Materials:
Size 4 Medium weight yarn in 2 or more colors (one color for the connecting chain and one ore more colors for the hearts!)
Stitch Marker
Yarn Needle
Size I (5.5 mm) crochet hook
Finished Size:
The finished size depends on how many hearts you make. Each chain and heart segment is 7 inches and then there is a 6 inch chain at the end.
You can calculate it like this:
(number of hearts x 7) + 6 = length of garland.
Instructions:
To make the hearts:
Round 1: Ch 4. 12 dc in the 4th chain from the hook. The unused ch 3 at the beginning counts as a dc. (13 dc) Do NOT sl st to connect. Ch 1, turn.
Round 2: (sc and hdc), (2 hdc), (2 hdc), hdc, (2 sc), sc, (hdc, dc, hdc), sc, (2 sc), hdc, (2 hdc), (2 hdc), (hdc and sc) Cut yarn and weave in yarn ends.
Repeat to make as many hearts as you like. This will determine the length of your garland.
Note: When joining the hearts to the garland, we will be working into the half double crochets that are closest to the sc in the middle of the heart.
Joining the hearts to make the garland:
Using the color you want for the garland chain, *Chain 25. Pick up your first heart and insert hook into the back loop of the hdc on the top of the heart, yarn over and slip stitch to attach the heart to the chain. Chain 3. Repeat the slip stitch through the back loop of the hdc on the other side of the heart to attach the heart on the other side. Repeat from * until all hearts are connected. Chain 25. Finish off!
