I think it is absolutely necessary for every baby to have a perfectly soft, snuggly, beautiful, hand-made with love crochet baby blanket! This granny square baby blanket is simple to make and perfect for baby. This blanket measures 28 inches square when finished!

For this pattern you will need:

Size I crochet hook

Size 3 light weight yarn (I used 2 skeins of Lionbrand Mandala Sparkle in the color Nova)

Scissors

Yarn needle

Pattern:

Ch5, join with sl st in first ch to close ring.

Round 1 Ch3 (counts as first dc), 2dc in 5 chain space, (ch2, 3dc in ch-sp) 3 times, ch2, join with sl st in top of beginning chain 3. Sl st in top of next 2 dc and into the chain 3 space.

Round 2 Ch3 (counts as first dc), 2 dc, chain 3 , 3 dc in same chain 3 space. chain 1. *(3dc, ch3, 3dc) in next corner ch-sp, ch1; repeat from * 3 more times. sl st into top of beginning chain 3.

Round 3 Ch3 (counts as first dc), 2dc , chain 3, 3 dc in 3 chain space, ch1, 3dc in next ch 1 sp, ch1; *(3dc, ch3, 3dc) in corner ch-sp, ch1, 3 dc in next ch 1 space. repeat from * 3 more times, sl st into top of beginning chain 3.

Repeat Round 3, starting with the corner and putting 3 dc ch 1 in each chain 1 space. The number of chain 1 spaces will increase with every round and the size of your granny square will increase with every round!
