Sunflower Granny Square

Hello, crochet friends!! Here is a cute and easy sunflower granny square that you can use to make a cute blanket, pillow, tote bag, sweater, or just about anything you can imagine. I absolutely love granny squares because the are so versatile!

For this pattern you will need:

Size H hook

Medium weight yarn in dark brown, yellow, green, and white.  

Scissors

Special stitches:

Beginning cluster: Ch 2 *yo, insert hook in current space, yo draw up a loop, yo draw through 2 loops on hook, repeat from * once more.  yo and draw through all 3 loops on hook. 

Cluster:  *yo, insert hook in next space, yo draw up a loop, yo draw through 2 loops on hook, repeat from * twice more.  yo and draw through all 4 loops on hook.

Rnd 1: 

(using dark brown) Make a magic circle, chain 3 then do 15 double crochets in the magic circle.  sl st to top of beginning chain 3.  Pull end string to close magic circle.  (16 dc) cut yarn. 

Rnd 2: 

(using yellow) Beginning cluster stitch, chain 2.  Cluster stitch in next dc, chain 2. Repeat until you have 16 cluster stitches (16 yellow petals). sl st to top of beginning cluster. cut yarn.  

Rnd 3: 

(using green) Join in any 2 chain space.  Chain 3, in the same space, double crochet, chain 3, 2 double crochet, chain 1.  (2 sc chain 1 in next In next 2 chain space) 3 times.  *(2 dc, chain 3, 2 dc) in next 2 chain space, chain 1.  (2 sc chain 1) 3 times.  repeat from* 2 more times.  sl st in top of first chain 3.  cut yarn.   

Rnd 4: 

(using white) Join in any chain 3 space.  Chain 3. in same space, dc, chain 3, 2 dc.  2 dc in each of the next 4 chain 1 spaces.  *(2dc, chain 3, 2 dc in next 3 chain space.  2 dc in each of the next 4 chain 1 spaces.  Repeat from * 2 more times.  sl st to top of first chain 3.  Finish off.
