It’s almost time for Thanksgiving!!  One of my favorite things to do is to create a beautiful tablescape for the holidays.  So, this year I’ve come up with a few different ways I can include some crochet in my tablescape!  The first one is this fun and adorable Fall napkin ring holder and it’s just perfect for your Thanksgiving tablescape!  (Check out the matching Crochet Wine Glass Markers here!)

For this pattern you will need: 

1/2 inch button

2 crochet leaves

size 10 crochet cotton in any color you like

size 6 crochet hook        

scissors

needle

pins or scraps of yarn to mark stitches (optional)

Instructions:

Create a slip knot on your hook.  Remove the slip knot from the hook.  Holding the first leaf upside down, start counting from the right side and find the 9th sc on the bottom of the leaf.  You can mark it with a pin or a piece of scrap yarn.

Do the same with the 10th sc.

Marking the 9th and 10th stitch is optional.  You can just count out the stitches when you need to but I find it helpful to have them already marked!

Pick up your first leaf and push your hook into the 9th sc.  Pick up the slip knot that you made and draw it up through the sc.  (Remove the 9th stitch marker if you used one!)

Now the leaf is connected to your yarn.  Ch 60.  Place another marker in the 60th chain.

Chain 8.  Pick up the 2nd leaf.  Holding it sideways with the bottom of the leaf on the left.

Slip stitch into the 10th sc and remove marker.  This attaches the 2nd leaf to the chain.

Now sc into the 9th sc.  Chain 8.  Sc into the marked chain (the 60th chain) and remove marker.

Hdc in the next chain, dc in the next 49 chains, hdc in the next chain, sc in the next 8 chains.  Slip stitch into the 10th sc of the bottom of the first leaf (if you marked the stitches in the beginning, this will be the last marked stitch.)

You can leave this yarn long and use it to sew the button on or you can finish off and use a new piece yarn.  I leave the yarn long and weave it back to the 4th sc to sew the button on.  Either way, find the 4th sc from your leaf and sew your button onto it.

Once your button is sewn on, finish off your ends.  Now you’re ready to enjoy your new crochet Thanksgiving napkin ring!
